Permissions for content editing and site managing

Basic Configuration

The Drupal Kit provides a way to assign predefined sets of permissions related to content editing and site management to any role in the system. While the Drupal Kit does not enforce specific permissions to be associated with specific roles, these predefined permissions are considered a sane default for most sites. A typical set up would be to assign content editing related permissions to the “Content Editor” role and site management permissions to the “Site Manager” role.

User accounts with the permission “Administer Drupal Kit settings” can access an interface at Configuration > Drupal Kit Configuration > Permissions Configuration (/admin/config/content/utexas/permissions). The interface shown below lists all permissions that will be assigned to a selected role, and provides a selection list of all available roles in the system.

If the site has added the News, Profile, or Event add-on, similar interfaces are provided that allow assigning permissions related to those add-ons. Most commonly, sites will assign content editing related permissions to the Content Editor role and site management permissions for each add-on to the Site Manager role.
